The album.
In my opinion this is the best album you've put out to date. Not to say the others weren't amazing. I love the lyrics and the music that almost sounds freeform. But what I love the most about this album is how Isaac sounded like how he was feeling every word when he sang it. f***ing beautiful

Most likely the best modest mouse record out. I just love all the tracks. Literally every single one. I would have to say my favorite is either out of gas, bankrupt on selling, or truckers atlas. Truckers Atlas is so damn catchy, but out of gas is to. And bankrupt on selling is just very beautiful. All if this album is so damn genius. Much to underated.
this seems to be the ONLY album where I like Every. Single. Song on it.
I like all other modest mouse albums aswell, however there seems to be some songs on other albums that I dont really care as much for.
but I can listen through lonesome crowded without having to skip a single song.
haha
its absolutely great. =)
which do you like better, fingering your butt and jerking your wang? stop contemplating which album is better than the other and just enjoy them.
Yah i loved this album but i think building something out of nothing was better but my favorite song on this album was out of gas.
I am happy to find so many useful information here in the post, we need develop more strategies in this regard, thanks for sharing.Depression Treatment Centers

One of the best albums ever in the history of mankind
This is by far the greatest album in the history of man. I bought this album quite some time ago and I still can never seem to get it out of my CD player or out of my head for that matter. I enjoy every single lyrics and I also enjoy every single instrument that has graced the hands of these men. Everything about this album defines Modest Mouse and the reason I fell head over heels for them and Brocks writting especially. I have even gone far enough to get a cockroach from "Doin' The Cockroach" tattooed on my back.
I wish I would have heard about this album sooner than the 4 years ago I recieved it because there is not a day I want to go without hearing it for the rest of my life.
I'm especially looking for "Jesus Christ was an only child" The violin part in that is AMAZING!
If anyone can help me out, I would be eternally grateful!
i dont care what the lead singer looks like. But that all changed when i saw Kimya Dawson. She is ugly as hell. Has a white afro. And is fat. And moley. And she is singing songs about being beautiful. Now, bands must meet the criteria they sing about.
Who cares what any lead singer looks like?
I pay more attention to the music. Lonesome crowded west is my favorite album too.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. i feel like she has a weird russian accent though. Even though i'm pretty sure shes not russian. Just the way her name looks.
there are a couple of musicians i can definitely enjoy.
karen o
regina spektor
fiest
the chick from 'hey monday'
i'd tap avril levine if she didn't suck so bad
Rhianna
kat kerr
yeah. the list kind of goes on.
let's just have a moment of fap for all of the wonderful rock goddesses
most lead singers are ugly. Why most most musicians look like huge ugly nerds
yeah, he IS. but wonderwall is AMAZING, so i get over it.
i also liked their take on 'house of the rising sun'
coincidence. It was playing today when i went out to lunch. Is it a sign?? haha. You know what i realized, the lead singer is really ugly for oasis.
it's easy to rock out to anything when you've got 11 minutes to wait on a makeshift bloodmobile cot with a tube in your arm.
omg, they might have played that at my seventh grade social. LOL.
and
i love champagne supernova.
Rock out to Champagne Supernova. Thats like easy listening. Something I can see 7th graders slow dancing to.
well music is my religion.
like- ALL of that little shit, when a song i like comes on the radio i feel like it's christmas- i gave blood today and they were playing 94.7 and 'champagne supernova' was on, and i almost fell onto the floor of the bloodmobile jamming to it. i sit at that piano bench playing and i end up learning how to play whatever song is stuck in my head just by tapping keys.
and i have all these friends- well really most of the cardboard cut outs who live in this quarter horse community are like- meh. and i'm like NOT MEH! NEVER MEH!
i have 'rocket to russia' on vinyl on my wall, i think i want to paper my walls with records. but GOOD ones. so if anyone asks what i listen to, i can take them upstairs and say- THIS. THIS is what i listen to.
if i ever go deaf i'm jumping off of a building.
stories reminds me of when i bought Building Nothing Out of Something and Lonesome Crowded West at the same time. I was riding bikes with my friend. And we decided to own every album made by modest mouse. We bought them, rode the bikes into my backyard. And just looked at the lyrics. Singing how we thought they went. Then playing them when we got in the house, and being amazed at how wrong we were. No one can compare to Isaac.
I know exactly where you're coming from. When I got LCW and I popped it into my 99 Camaro and heard the opening bends of Teeth Like God's Shoeshine, I was like "Well f*** me, I think I shit myself." I got home and the first song wasn't finished. I think, just for that album alone, I would wait to get it in store and then cherish that feeling.
does ANYTHING really compare to sawing through a barcode with your teeth in the passenger seat on the way home, ripping through the vacuum packing and carefully popping a new cd open? or getting a third of the way through track two before you make it home?
or better yet, managing to wait until you get through the front door, popping it in the 5 disk changer, hearing the shards of the led zep cd that got crushed inside grind around, then stop as the new disk is read- of the split second of dead air that proceeds the intro? closing your eyes and locking your door and listening it on repeat? and then you find those couple of tracks on it you HATE and skip, but then you learn to just love them and then they're like, your favorite so when you're playing it and cruising around in the saturn and it comes on you CRANK the 15s that you have in the backseat and headbang until you chip a tooth on the wheel?
i don't like how the parts of my music that i like get kind of eroded by convenience. i don't like digital music at all- the album ITSELF is art- look at 'demon days' by the Gorillaz.
1) the tracks are all mixed, edited, and arranged so that they don't just bleed into each other, they FLOW together, the whole CD, track-by-track is the ideal way to experience the music
2) intense album art that feeds into this cartoon world they kind of made, little characters that represent the artists, this tiny world that only exists on the packaging on a disk and in the videos.
uh... can't think of a third, but that's still significant.
OKAY, yeah, you get all that on Ebay- but all the parts about GOING OUT to get your music are gone.
i like slapping a ten and a five on a desk and asking for a used copy of 'out of time' because i found out that the re-release is edited for runtime and that pisses me off and NO, i don't just want to listen to eponymous instead, i'm willing to take the bus down to portland and FIND the damn CD. it's like a quest. for R.E.M.
i know you felt. I went to the store, and didnt have enough money. I wanted a drink AND to buy Seven Swans by Sufjan Stevens. couldnt. although ebay is still technically supporting the band. Alot of record stores have ebay accounts.
i want it in PERSON though, like- i like the experience of going to the store and getting the album and booking it home to go listen.
also, i like feeling like i'm supporting the band.
but i haven't even HEARD the songs on this, like... IDK. i want to youtube it just to hear them, but at the same time, i'm on dial up. so. y'know. not gonna happen.
i have work soon though, i should be getting enough for a little CD day.
album. Its not my favorite though. Doesnt have that cool of a cover -_- haha
Lonesome Crowded West is my favorite album because it is so absolutely genuine. It's beautiful because it's so raw and filled with emotion, and it has the cutest little quirks that only Modest Mouse can pull off. "Opinions were like kittens, I was givin em away"
Goddamn, I love this album
buy it online dude. You can probably find it for 5 bucks on ebay. All my modest mouse cds were less than 10 bucks because I got them off ebay.
i wish i wasn't such a snob, i COULD just limewire it, but NO i have to have this music douche thing going on where i only have music i bought or was gifted.
now i have to wait until i have 13 dollars so i can go get it.
no, 16, because i'll need bus fair.
17 because i'll want a vault.
20 so i can get a couple of carl's junior spicy sandwiches.
no, ah, weak sauce, prepared food tax, i'll need 20.06.
six pennies!?
i've gotten off track.
apparently this is like, the modest mouse to have.
so i have to go have it. lol.
Styrofoam Boots is the best song. I've always wanted to see them live, and hear them play this song. Especially when they play the It's All Nice on Ice Alright part of the song. I would love to see how Jeremiah plays the drum solo.
This is possibly my favorite album by them. All the songs are different and don't have that same bland sound that sometimes repeats through an album. But the lyrical genius stays through it and gives it a nice sense of unity. My favorite song off this has to be Trailer Trash.
I have to agree. L.C.W. is one of the best albums in general. Cowboy Dan being one of my favorite songs off the album."..Didn't move to the city, the city moved to me...." All of what this band creates will remain some of the best music out there.
