LUPE FIASCO RIPPING OFF MODEST MOUSE
Hey all- the "Band" LUPE FIASCO is TOTALLY ripping off our beloved Modest Mouse !!! Check out their song "The Show Goes On". It is the most blatant rip off of any song ever ! They have no shame- it's blatantly stolen from "Float On". I can't believe that it's even allowed to get any airplay at all. Anyone who has the ability to contact Modest Mouse please let them know... These hip-hop ripoffs shouldn't be allowed to make 1 thin dime off someone else's songwriting talents. Anyone else agree ???????????

It's a sample, not a ripoff. Lupe's label gave him the finished track and told him to use it. He'd never even heard the song beforehand and later checked out the original. It's all in an interview with him somewhere. Look it up!
Lupe gives Isaac credit in the booklet.
It's definintely sampled. Since it was a full length album there is virtually no chance that it is "ripped off". I take it as a compliment that an actually decent rap artist decided to sample modest mouse. Unfortunatly i think he picked the wrong song to sample but each to his own i guess.
but it still pisses me off.

Yep. Same chords, same rhythms, and practically the same lyrics. I couldn't imagine him blatantly ripping something like this though, he probably got permission to sample the song and do a rendition of it, or at least we can hope...
