Songs that were cut off

I recently torrented a huge list of unreleased Modest Mouse songs (sorry, I had to. I just need MORE) and there were many songs like Nothing New and Needle Point that were from this era. And I really think they should have added them to the album. Who cares if the album was like 20 songs long. Na mean?

yeh

who knows if they will do that. Especially since they arent doing anything after the short tour this year. Johnny Marr told BBC that they are going on short hiatus beceause Brock is curating music for a movie. Sad

Although M&A was released under Epic, I think it's the producer that's throwing them down hill. Denning was the producer for GNFPWLBN, WWDBTSES, and NOFAYN. Brian Deck was pretty good, maybe get him back. But yeah, Building Nothing was a compilation of singles. If you look at the track listing and their early singles with b-sides, that's basically what Building is.

will Modest Mouse leave Epic? Many of my favorite bands have recently been leaving their labels, and starting their own. I know Modest Mouse is head of Glacial Pace (I think). And if they left epic, they could re-release, and re-record whatever they wanted. And Building Nothing out of Something had early songs he wrote under the name of Ugly Casanova, thats what I read.

Ahh

Well, technically they sort-of did. Building Nothing Out of Something is a compilation of singles and b-sides from their early career, and Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks were b-sides from M&A. I would really like them to release a b-sides album for This is a Long Drive and Lonesome Crowded to include Edit the Sad Parts, Buttons to Push the Buttons, and A Manic Depressive Named Laughing Boy. But I can only dream...

I also have this spacy jam called Stonewashed Jeans by them. Completely stupid, but it has an amazing feel to the noise in the background. It would be great if they recorded all the old stuff. Since they are making that ep with songs off their last two albums. They should do the same thing with their first albums. It would also make alot of those hardcore (stupid) fans who say "modest mouses new stuff sucks" happy.

Some of those songs are really good, but unless they rerecorded them, they had the sound quality of SSS and would've fit better on there. I too have a huge list of unreleased songs including Calculus Man, White Lies Yellow Teeth, Jaw Breaker, and Crazy Gnome, and I could only wish they would be rerecorded and released. Jaw Breaker might not, or Crazy Gnome, due to the fact that they're jams though.
